Exeter City Council has reviewed the Local Plan for the City to provide land use policies and proposals for a new plan period to 2011. The Local Plan First Review was adopted on 31 March 2005. This Adopted Plan supersedes all other versions of the Exeter Local Plan and together with the recently adopted Devon Structure Plan 2001 to 2016 provides the basis for land-use planning over the next few years.
The Government has recently introduced changes to the planning system. In accordance with the Planning and Compensation Act September 2004, Local Plans are to be replaced by Local Development Frameworks (LDFs). This Adopted Local Plan retains development plan status and its policies are ‘saved’ for a period of three years until March 2008.
